RESCUE

There are so many loving dogs looking for wonderful homes across the country in pounds, shelters, human societies, rescue agencies and foster homes. One might be just right for you! Many of these wonderful animals don't have much time left. Eclipse Kennels is happy to help you find the right white German Shepherd Dog rescue. Every so often, we might have something available that we are fostering through the White German Shepherd Dog Club of America Rescue (WGSDCA).

My Experience with a Rescue Dog
My first dog was a rescue dog. Growing up I had always wanted a dog but my parents would not let me have one as they were not big animal lovers. I always said when I was out on my own, I'd get a dog.
In winter 1997, I was interning in downtown Minneapolis. I often visited the pound as it was a few blocks from my internship. During one of my visits, I fell in love with a scruffy-looking dog with a heart the size of Minnesota. She was the cutest thing I had ever seen and her big, brown eyes called out to me. There were so many puppies at the pound and this poor girl was estimated to be four years old. I knew she would be passed over by others as they looked at bouncy puppies. The day I met her, she was still not available for adoption. I told her that I if she was still there the day she went up for adoption, I would take her home with me.
I visited her everyday and spent my lunch hour with her. I scraped up enough money for her adoption in hopes she would be there on adoption day. I also put every financial resource I had available in the $500 deposit I needed to make to my apartment complex in order to have a dog. Having a non-paid internship made this quite hard.
The day finally came when she was available for adoption. I reported to my internship and told those that I worked for that I was going to adopt a dog that day. I worked for a three-man advertising firm in the warehouse district and they were as excited as I. They told me to go right when the pound opened and then I could bring her back to the office. I went and she was still there! I was so excited!
I adopted my new friend and brought her back to the office with me. A trip she would make everyday as my employers said she could come to work with me.
That night, I brought her to my apartment and my boyfriend (now my husband) was in amazement! I never told him I was going to get her and he reminded me that my father would be upset as he was helping me pay the rent. I didn't care, I loved her, she was mine and I didn't care if I had to find a way to pay the rent myself, she wasn't going back!
We spent the night cutting all the mats and tangles out of her fur and giving her a bath because she didn't smell too good. She had obviously been on the streets for some time.
We decided to name her Cinder and my dad ended up loving her.
Cinder is the greatest dog I have ever owned. My first dog, my soul mate. She provided me with years of loyalty and friendship just like so many other rescue dogs are waiting to do.
